When people talk about the energy requirements of blockchain they are most likely referring to Bitcoin, and whilst this network does require tremendous amounts of energy to remain secure, it does appear that the industry is moving towards greener sources of electricity.

When I first started reading about blockchain and its use cases, 'move-to-earn' (move2earn) apps were one of the first areas that caught my attention. This is where users purchase a non-fungible token (NFT) sneaker and are then incentivized to walk, jog, run or work out by receiving cryptocurrency rewards.

When you don’t have a tech background it is easy to tune out when you hear someone talk about blockchain technology. I get it. It is confusing and complicated but over the next few years almost every industry is going to be looking at ways to incorporate blockchain technology, so it is important to understand the basics.

Digital twins are an exciting area of AI innovation in the life sciences industry, and one I can see intersecting with blockchain and the metaverse in the near future.
